*Banner Pilot*, <i>Resignation Day</i> out Sept 14th!

We are thrilled to work with Banner Pilot on the re-release of Resignation Day out Sept 14th! Jacques Wait (Soviettes, Off With Their Heads, Dear Landlord) remixed and remastered the12 original tracks and added two bonus songs that are out of print. Originally released on Go Kart records you can score Resignation Day digitally through them on Sept 14th and we’ll be handling the CD and vinyl. Click here to check their tour dates and here to visit their web site.

Take a peek at what Nate from Banner Pilot had to say:

When we originally recorded Resignation Day back in 2007, issues came up during the recording that left us with little time for mixing. As a result, the record didn’t sound too hot. This was kind of a drag ‘cuz we didn’t feel like we did the songs justice. But! Sometimes you get a second chance; sometimes you can take something that was subpar and make it right, like when that Jason Mraz guy covered Blitzkrieg Bop. In our case, we were able to get Jacques Wait (who we worked with on our last album Collapser) to take a look at the original tracks and take a stab at remixing them. What he came up with was awesome, sounding like a new album. Usually something billed as a ‘remix’ will cause you to say “Uh, I guess the guitars are…. warmer now?” or “Oh, that’s cool that the ride cymbal has more zing in that one part now. Glad I bought this again”, but in this case we’re talking about a dramatic difference. Plus we added two more songs that are out of print, re-did the layout, and even changed around the sequencing. It’s like a whole new experience, maaan.

So if you checked out the album the first time around and didn’t dig it, give it another chance. We think you’ll like it. It’s like that one fairy tale where the first bowl of porridge kind of sucks but the second one is perfect.

Refused Get Hall Of Fame Treatment On The Cover Of Decibel

The groundbreaking, highly influential and sadly extinct Swedish hardcore band Refused has been honored by Decibel, the country’s leading extreme metal magazine, with the prestigious “Hall of Fame” installment on the cover of their September issue in celebration of the recent Deluxe reissue of the group’s classic album The Shape of Punk to Come.

Beginning today, fans can purchase a copy on newsstands or order online Decibel.

In an unprecedented worldwide exclusive, Decibel delves deep in the psyche of one of the most important hardcore bands to discuss the making of their prophetically titled album. For the first time since their breakup in the late ‘90s, the entire band has come forward to talk about the trials and tribulation of recording the album that ultimately led to the demise of the band.

Decibel’s visually striking cover re-creates the album’s landmark artwork for a never before “Hall of Fame” feature on the front of the magazine.

Decibel Excerpt:

After the breakup, the quartet issued a legendary press release that demanded that newspapers burn all their photos of Refused and vowed not to “give interviews to stupid reporters who still haven’t got anything about what we are about.” Now, 12 years after the release of The Shape of Punk to Come, they’ve finally agreed to revisit the most painful chapter in the band’s history.

Pick up your copy of Decibel Magazine’s special Refused “Hall of Fame” issue and the Deluxe Edition of The Shape of Punk To Come today!!!

Bad Religion Culminate 30th Anniversary With 15th Studio Album & Fall US Tour

Celebrating three decades of influential, thought provoking and groundbreaking punk rock, Bad Religion will release their fifteenth studio album, The Dissent of Man, on September 28. The album’s first single “The Devil in Stitches” made its debut on the world famous KROQ 106.7 in Los Angeles on Tuesday and can be heard now at www.myspace.com/badreligion. Fans can preorder The Dissent of Man now at http://www.badreligionstore.com. Additionally, Bad Religion will kick off a North American tour in October with support from Bouncing Souls and Off With Their Heads. Dates are listed below.

Produced by Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Tool), The Dissent of Man finds Bad Religion pushing the boundaries of their music as much today as they did in their formative years as a genre defining punk band. Over the course of making the album, primary songwriters Greg Graffin and Brett Gurewitz’s songwriting was informed by life changing events, with Graffin writing his forthcoming book “Anarchy Evolution” and Gurewitz embarking on parenthood again.

“These are some of my favorite songs I’ve ever written,” says Gurewitz. “A few of them took me way outside my comfort zone as a writer to a place I haven’t gone since Recipe or Stranger than Fiction.”

The result is one of the band’s most forward thinking and musically varied albums ever. The Dissent of Man is not only a snapshot of the band’s personal experiences of the past years but also of their continued maturity in songwriting, capturing an array of styles ranging from blazing punk rock songs like the opener “The Day That the Earth Stalled” and “Meeting of the Minds” and classic rock-tinged cuts like “Cyanide” and “Turn Your Back on Me” to radio rock ready hits like the first single “The Devil in Stitches.”

“I feel like the last couple of records have been amongst our most conservative, never straying too far from a Bad Religion sound,” adds Gurewitz. “Whereas on this one we’re taking the songs to a lot of different places, exploring our influences and trying out some new things in a way we haven’t done in years.”

The Dissent of Man is a testament to why Bad Religion has remained relevant for the better part of three decades. Already having cemented their place in history as a groundbreaking band who helped create a movement in Los Angeles with classic releases like How Could Hell Be Any Worse?, Suffer, Recipe for Hate, Stranger Than Fiction and Process of Belief, Bad Religion continue to inspire and create with a unique style that continues to cross boundaries and transcends genres.

As Bad Religion wraps up their 30th anniversary, they open the next chapter of their storied career with The Dissent of Man.

*THE FLATLINERS*, release <i>Monumental</i> 7". Out September 28th!

THE FLATLINERS are set to release Monumental on September 28th, a three song release only available on vinyl and digitally. Two tracks are exclusive to the release and “Monumental” is off their latest full length titled Cavalcade. THE FLATLINERS have recently been tagged to tour with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and they’ll be at Riot Fest, CMJ and Fest. Check their dates here! For more details on this release, take a peek at what Chris from The Flats had to say:

Remember when bands used to release “singles” on 7” pieces of wax? They’d also come with B-sides from their records on them. Remember? Well since we just recently got “vinyl records” in snowy Canada, we don’t remember either…

Alas! This coming September we bring you the ‘Monumental’ single! (Applause) And of course, the lovely folks at Fat Wreck Chords are (man)handling the release. The A side will be the title track (“Monumental”) from our latest album Cavalcade, while the B-side boasts 2 songs picked up and dusted off from the Cavalcade cutting room floor that are just far too sweet to rob from you folks. And on top of all that, our very talented friend and delicious food enthusiast Richard Minino (AKA Horsebites) has whipped up some really awesome artwork for it. So get stoked, cause we’re already there.
Cheers,
Chris
